Information and Eligibility:
The Tennessee Promise Scholarship is a last-dollar scholarship, mentoring, and community service program designed to increase the number of students attending college in Tennessee. It covers tuition and mandatory fees not covered by the Pell Grant, HOPE Scholarship, or Tennessee Student Assistance Award, enabling students to attend an eligible institution tuition-free.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a Tennessee resident.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Must complete the Tennessee Promise application by November 1 of the high school senior year.
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 15 of the high school senior year.
  • Must graduate from a Tennessee high school, home school, or earn a GED or HiSET diploma prior to the 19th birthday.
  • Must attend mandatory meetings as required by the assigned partnering organization.
  • Must complete eight hours of community service for each semester the award is received.
  • Must enroll in an eligible postsecondary institution in the fall term following high school graduation and maintain full-time enrollment.
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress (minimum 2.0 GPA) at the postsecondary institution.

Application Process:

  • Apply through the TSAC Student Portal between August 1 and November 1 of the high school senior year.
  • Complete the FAFSA by April 15 of the high school senior year.
  • Attend mandatory meetings coordinated by the assigned partnering organization.
  • Complete and submit eight hours of community service for each semester the award is received.

Deadlines:

  • Application Deadline: November 1 of the high school senior year.
  • FAFSA Submission Deadline: April 15 of the high school senior year.
  • Community Service Deadline: Prior to each semester of enrollment; specific dates provided by the assigned partnering organization.
