The Tennessee WMU offers scholarships to encourage and assist Baptist students attending Tennessee colleges, Southern Baptist Seminaries, and other institutions, aiding in their Christian development and academic preparation for a life of Christian service. Scholarships are funded through allocations from the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions and earnings from invested scholarship funds. Note that scholarships funded through the Golden Offering are awarded only to students attending undergraduate colleges in Tennessee or pursuing graduate studies at Southern Baptist Seminaries.

Eligibility criteria generally include:

• Mission Participation: Evidence of current involvement in missions, with preference given to participation in WMU missions discipleship groups, Baptist Collegiate Ministries, or Tennessee Baptist missions/ministries.
• Church Membership: Active membership in a Tennessee Baptist Convention-affiliated church.
• Academic Achievement: Maintenance of a minimum GPA, typically 2.6 on a 4.0 scale; higher GPAs may be required for specific scholarships (e.g., 3.0 for Myrtice Owens and James & Martha Waller Scholarships; 3.5 for Myrtle Creasman Scholarship).
• Enrollment Status: Full-time attendance at a Tennessee school, defined as taking the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester.
• Financial Need: Demonstrated financial need.

Specific scholarships include:

• Bettye Moss Powers Scholarship: For college juniors or seniors pursuing full-time missions; preference for female students.
• James and Martha Waller Scholarship: For upperclassmen entering church vocation ministry; preference for male students pursuing pastoral roles.
• Myrtle Creasman Scholarship: For outstanding female students currently serving as missions volunteers and pursuing a career in missions or a church-related vocation.
• James & Martha Waller Scholarship: For upperclassmen entering church vocation ministry; preference for male students pursuing pastoral roles.
• Myrtice Owens Nursing Scholarship: For nursing students interested in missions as a lifestyle and/or vocation.
