Texas Farm Credit Scholarship

Name: Texas Farm Credit Marsha Martin Scholarship

Award Amount: $5,000

Information and Eligibility:

The Texas Farm Credit Marsha Martin Scholarship is awarded by Texas Farm Credit to recognize outstanding high school seniors who are committed to agriculture, rural communities, and leadership in their FFA or 4-H chapters. Applicants must be residents within Texas Farm Credit’s service territory and members of FFA or 4-H. The scholarship is named in honor of Marsha Pyle Martin, a longtime advocate for agriculture youth in Texas. Texas Farm Credit’s scholarship program also includes the “Ag Champ” grant, where each branch location awards a local student and provides funds to their FFA or 4-H chapter, but the Marsha Martin Scholarship offers significant college funding for future ag-leaders.

This scholarship supports students who have shown academic excellence, involvement in agricultural and community-based activities, membership in FFA or 4-H, and reside in one of the 100+ Texas counties served by Texas Farm Credit. Applications require a high school transcript, a resume, a short essay on the applicant’s agricultural aspirations, and confirmation of membership in FFA or 4-H. The selected winners each receive a $5,000 award to help cover college expenses related to their degree in agriculture, agribusiness, or a related field.

Application Requirements:

  • Be a high school senior graduating soon and planning to enter a post-secondary institution
  • Be an active member of FFA or 4-H
  • Reside in Texas Farm Credit’s defined service territory (over 100 Texas counties)
  • Submit a current high school transcript
  • Include a resume and essay addressing agricultural goals or leadership experience
  • Complete the full application by the published deadline

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated academic achievement and potential for college success
  • Strong involvement in agriculture-related activities (FFA, 4-H, community service)
  • Residence within the eligible service area and membership in FFA or 4-H
  • Articulation of clear agricultural or leadership goals in the essay

Additional Details:

  • Award amount: $5,000 per recipient (typically 12 recipients each year)
  • Separate “Ag Champ” grants of $1,000 and an additional $1,000 to the student’s FFA or 4-H chapter are also offered by Texas Farm Credit.
