The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program is one of the most prestigious undergraduate scholarships in the United States for students pursuing research careers in the natural sciences, engineering and mathematics. Goldwater Scholars receive up to $7,500 annually to help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books and room and board. Each year, up to 300 highly qualified students across the country are selected based on academic merit, research experience and potential for significant contributions to their chosen fields.
Eligibility criteria include:

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Academic Level: Must be a full-time sophomore or junior at an accredited college or university.
  • Field of Study: Must be pursuing a degree in mathematics, natural sciences or engineering.
  • Academic Performance: Must have a minimum B average (or equivalent).
