The scholarship centers around a unique essay prompt: Students must imagine that a relative 200 years in the future discovers an item they buried in their backyard in 2010—an item valuable enough to eliminate that relative’s financial worries. The task is to choose an object or concept that would carry immense future value and explain why. Essays must be between 500 and 1,000 words. This scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for students who enjoy speculative thinking, storytelling, and creative writing.
