Information and Eligibility:
The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America (NSCDA) offers scholarships to support students engaged in American history research, historic preservation, restoration, or administration of historic sites. These scholarships further the Society’s mission of preserving heritage and promoting education in American history.
Eligibility criteria include:

  • Academic Level: Graduate or professional degree students working in a topic of American history or historic preservation. (Some awards have been given to international students in graduate‐program status.)
  • Field of Study: Research in American history (any period), political science, historic restoration, historic site administration or similar fields.
  • Affiliation: Enrollment in an accredited institution and demonstration of need/interest in history or preservation.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed scholarship application form as provided by NSCDA.

  • Academic excellence and evidence of research preparedness in American history or preservation.
  • Originality and significance of the proposed research or project in the realm of American history.
  • Feasibility of the work, relevance to the heritage/preservation mission of NSCDA and applicant’s potential for contribution in the field.
