Information and Eligibility:
The Helen Diller Family Foundation Award for Excellence recognizes outstanding young Jewish leaders in the United States who are driving meaningful change in their communities through volunteer service, social innovation, or philanthropy. Each year, up to 15 teens are selected to receive the award, combining significant financial support with a national leadership community.
Eligibility criteria include:

  • Age: Teens typically between 13-19 years old by the application deadline.
  • Identity: Applicant must identify as Jewish and be a U.S. resident.
  • Leadership & Impact: Applicants should demonstrate a clear leadership role in a self-designed or led project that embodies values of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and has measurable community impact.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed application form provided by the Foundation.
  • Résumé or personal statement describing the applicant’s project, leadership role, educational goals, and community impact.
  • Description of the project initiative including goals, timeline, impact metrics, and growth potential.
  • Letters of recommendation may be required, often from advisors, mentors or community leaders familiar with the applicant’s project.

Selection Criteria:

  • Originality and scope of the applicant’s project or initiative.
  • Demonstrated leadership by the applicant in planning, implementing or scaling the project.
  • Measurable impact or tangible results of the project in the community or broader society.

Additional Details:

  • Up to 15 recipients are selected annually. awardees join a cohort network and receive ongoing leadership support and recognition.
  • Award funds may be used for educational purposes or to support the recipient’s ongoing work. Funds are given in a manner coordinated by the Foundation.
