Name: Jewish War Veterans Graduate Student Research Grant
Award Amount: $1,000
Information and Eligibility:
The Jewish War Veterans Graduate Student Research Grant supports outstanding graduate students conducting research related to Jewish military history, Jewish service members, veterans’ affairs, or topics connected to the mission of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America (JWV). As the oldest active veterans’ organization in the country, JWV has a long tradition of preserving the experiences of Jewish Americans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This research grant is designed to encourage serious academic work that enhances public understanding of Jewish military contributions and strengthens historical documentation for future generations.
The grant assists graduate students pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees in history, political science, sociology, military studies, Jewish studies, archival research, or related academic fields. Applicants should be engaged in a significant research project such as a thesis, dissertation, archival study, or scholarly publication. Proposals that shed light on underrepresented aspects of Jewish military history, explore service experiences across different eras, or highlight the personal narratives of veterans are especially encouraged.
Funds may be used for research expenses including travel to archives, photocopying, digitization fees, research materials, or other academic needs directly connected to the proposed project. JWV aims to support scholars who are advancing original research and contributing meaningfully to the historical record.
