Information And Eligibility:
The Target Scholars Program, in partnership with UNCF, is a need-based scholarship initiative that provides financial support to first-year Black students enrolled at select historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The program is designed to empower students with exceptional academic performance, leadership qualities, and a commitment to community involvement. This scholarship supports Target’s dedication to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, while also preparing the next generation of talent in technology, leadership, and design.

The program offers 1,000 scholarships of $5,000 each, along with academic support, mentoring, internship opportunities, networking, and other resources to help students excel throughout their college careers. This initiative is a critical step in building the workforce of the future and supporting Black excellence in higher education.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a first-year Black student enrolled at a select HBCU.
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through extracurricular activities, school projects, or community service.
  • Interest in pursuing a degree in technology, leadership, or design.
  • Submission of an application form, academic transcripts, a personal essay, and at least one letter of recommendation.

Application Process:

  • Complete the online scholarship application form available through the UNCF website.
  • Submit a resume detailing leadership roles, community involvement, and achievements.
  • Provide academic transcripts to verify GPA requirements.
  • Write a personal statement or essay outlining career goals, leadership experiences, and aspirations in technology, leadership, or design.
  • Include at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community leader.
