Information and Eligibility:
The VTCPA Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded annually to a highly motivated college student majoring in accounting who plans to pursue the CPA license and a career in public accounting. The award reflects the Vermont Society of Certified Public Accountants’ commitment to strengthening the accounting profession within Vermont by supporting future CPAs.
Eligibility criteria include:

• Academic Level: Applicant must be a junior in a four-year accounting program at an accredited college or university.
• Major / Focus: Applicant must be majoring in accounting and intend to pursue certification as a CPA.
• Residency/Institution: Applicant must attend a college or university in Vermont (or otherwise meet VTCPA’s state requirements).
• Achievement & Leadership: Applicant should demonstrate solid academic performance, leadership potential, and involvement in the accounting or campus community.

Application Requirements:

• Completed VTCPA scholarship application form, including personal information, major and institution details.
• Official or unofficial academic transcript verifying junior standing, accounting major and GPA.
• Résumé or curriculum vitae summarizing academic achievements, leadership activities and professional aspirations.
• Letter of recommendation from an accounting faculty member, mentor or employer who can speak to the applicant’s readiness for a career in public accounting.

Selection Criteria:

• Academic excellence in coursework and/or a strong accounting GPA.
• Clear intent and professional commitment to pursue the CPA credential and serve the public-accounting profession.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, extracurricular involvement or professional experience relevant to accounting.

Additional Details:

• Only one scholarship award is given each year under this program.
• Funds are typically applied to the recipient’s tuition, fees or approved educational expenses at the institution.
