Since its founding in 1999, Women in Federal Law Enforcement (WIFLE) has been at the forefront of advocating for the advancement of women in law enforcement. WIFLE is committed to promoting equality, offering mentorship, professional development, and empowerment within the federal law enforcement community. The organization supports aspiring professionals through a scholarship program designed to assist students pursuing careers in law enforcement.

WIFLE’s scholarship program aims to:

  • Assist individuals who aspire to qualify for a career in law enforcement.
  • Foster professional development for those pursuing law enforcement careers.

Scholarship awards are $2,500 each, though they may vary depending on available funding. In 2024, WIFLE awarded a total of $30,000 in scholarships to deserving students.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Enrollment: Must be a high school graduate and a full-time student at an accredited four-year college/university, or enrolled in a full-time, accredited community college with plans to transfer to a four-year institution.
  • Academic Achievement: Applicants must have completed at least one full academic year at an accredited institution and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
  • Field of Study: Applicants must major in Criminal Justice or a related discipline (e.g., social sciences, public administration, computer science, finance, chemistry, physics, etc.) leading to a four-year degree. Graduate and postgraduate students are eligible. Associate degree students are eligible only if they plan to transfer to a four-year program.
  • Commitment to Law Enforcement: Applicants must submit a minimum 500-word essay outlining their goals to enter the profession and the impact they hope to achieve in the profession and their community. If applicable, applicants may describe an internship experience with a law enforcement agency (include the agency name, dates served, and key accomplishments).
  • Sponsorship: Provide a written statement of support from at least one community leader or police official. This letter should relate to the applicant’s pursuit of a law enforcement-related degree or their desire to enter the law enforcement field.
  • Citizenship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
