Information and Eligibility:
The #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship, championed by NAFSA and hosted by participating U.S. colleges and universities, supports first-year international undergraduates who demonstrate leadership and intercultural initiative. Each institution offers two renewable scholarships to selected students who can contribute to inclusive campus communities.

Applicants must submit either a 500–1,000-word essay or a 2–5-minute video describing their leadership skills and plans for advancing intercultural learning on their future campus. The program aims to promote global understanding and increase access to U.S. higher education for talented international students. Applicants must also meet each institution’s admission requirements.

Eligibility criteria include:

• Applicant Status: Must be a first-year international student (non-U.S. citizen or permanent resident) applying to undergraduate study at a participating institution.
• Intercultural Leadership: Demonstrated commitment to promoting intercultural learning and exchange.
• Submission Requirement: Must submit the institutional scholarship application plus the required essay or video illustrating leadership and intercultural vision.
• Admission Standards: Must meet and adhere to the admission and scholarship deadlines specific to each participating school. Application cycles generally occur in Spring or Summer.
