Information and Eligibility:
YoungArts provides support to young artists through various grants and awards, aiming to identify exceptional talent and invest in their lifelong creative development. The primary competition is open to artists in disciplines such as Classical Music, Dance, Design Arts, Film, Jazz, Photography, Theater, Visual Arts, Voice, or Writing.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age: Between 15–18 years old or in high school grades 10–12.
  • Citizenship: United States citizens, permanent residents, or individuals legally able to receive taxable income in the U.S.
  • Artistic Excellence: Demonstrated excellence in one of the eligible disciplines.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the online application through the YoungArts website.
  • Submit required audition or portfolio materials specific to the chosen discipline.
  • Pay the application fee or provide fee waiver documentation if applicable.

Application Timeline:

  • Application Opens: July.
  • Application Deadline: October 17 at 8 p.m. ET.
  • Notification of Awards: Typically in November.

Additional Information:

  • All award winners receive cash prizes and are eligible for creative and professional development opportunities.
  • Microgrants support past award winners with small monetary awards for professional development and artistic needs.
  • The Gordon Parks Foundation Award and The Ashley Longshore Excellence in the Arts Award provide significant unrestricted funding to selected artists.
