The Acorn Equality Fund Creativity in Advocacy Scholarship is designed to support students who have demonstrated creative approaches to advocacy and activism, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community. This scholarship seeks individuals who have employed innovative methods, such as art, media, performance, or technology, to raise awareness and promote equality. The scholarship is open to high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students who are using their creativity to make a positive impact on society.

Eligibility criteria include:

• Residency: Must reside in downstate Illinois, excluding Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties.
• Enrollment Status: Open to students attending or planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Creativity in Advocacy: Applicants must have used creative methods (e.g., art, music, writing, media, performance) to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights or social justice. The scholarship is looking for those who have employed unconventional approaches to support activism.
• Academic Performance: A minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required.
• Application Materials: The application requires an essay, letters of recommendation, and academic transcripts. Applicants may also be asked to submit samples of their creative work that demonstrates their advocacy efforts.
