Information and Eligibility:

The Acorn Equality Fund LGBTQ+ Advocacy Scholarship is intended to support students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to LGBTQ+ advocacy and have been actively involved in efforts to promote equality, social justice, and human rights for LGBTQ+ individuals. This scholarship is open to high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students who are passionate about making positive changes in the LGBTQ+ community.

Eligibility criteria include:

• Residency: Must reside in downstate Illinois, excluding Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties.
• Enrollment Status: Open to students attending or planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Commitment to LGBTQ+ Advocacy: Applicants must have a demonstrated history of leadership and engagement in LGBTQ+ advocacy or related community service.
• Academic Performance: A minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required.
• Application Materials: The application requires an essay detailing the applicant’s advocacy efforts, letters of recommendation, and academic transcripts.
