Information And Eligibility: The Battle For The Bands Scholarship, with the support of VH1’s Save The Music Program is looking for talented individuals to submit a short music-based video for the chance to win a college scholarship, concert tickets, or even a chance to perform at Lollapalooza. Battle For The Bands Scholarship applicants are asked to create and submit an original music video (by yourself, with your school or with your band) that states why music education is important in your school. Applicants can submit their videos to one of three categories: 1. ORIGINAL MUSIC VIDEO 2. PARODY (change the lyrics to your favorite song to talk about music education) 3. USE YOUR SPEAKING VOICE (for those who do not play any instruments or sing, simply create a video stating why music education is important).

Battle For The Bands Scholarship videos should be creative and unique, not exceed 5 minutes in length, and all videos must include a message on why music education is important. Applicants must submit their completed videos to dosomething.org for posting on their gallery page, where the videos will be voted on by your peers. The 10 videos that receive the most votes will be reviewed by a panel of experts and will be chosen to win prizes. The prizes for each category are as follows: ORIGINAL MUSIC VIDEO PRIZE: Your very own Pop Up Video to be shown on VH1.com. PARODY VIDEO PRIZE: Tickets for a concert in your area. SPEAKING VOICE VIDEO PRIZE: An acoustic guitar. In addition, one outstanding video will be chosen to win a $1000 college scholarship for an individual entry, or up to 10 $1000 college scholarships for a group entry.
