Delaware State Presidential Scholarship

Name: Delaware State University – Presidential Scholarship

Award Amount: Up to $10,000 per year

Information And Eligibility:
The Delaware State University Presidential Scholarship is one of the institution’s most competitive and prestigious merit-based awards, designed to recognize exceptional academic achievement, strong leadership qualities, and a demonstrated commitment to personal and community development. Intended for high-performing high school seniors entering DSU as first-time freshmen, this scholarship helps reduce financial barriers while rewarding students who have showcased excellence both inside and outside the classroom. Presidential Scholars are often among the most engaged students on campus, taking part in honors coursework, leadership programs, community initiatives, and opportunities that accelerate academic and professional success.

This scholarship is open to both in-state and out-of-state students, making it a valuable opportunity for high-achieving applicants nationwide. DSU evaluates candidates holistically, but particular emphasis is placed on academic performance—specifically a rigorous high school curriculum, a strong GPA, and competitive standardized test scores. In addition, DSU seeks students who demonstrate initiative, responsibility, and the potential to contribute meaningfully to campus life through leadership roles, volunteerism, extracurricular involvement, or community service. The Presidential Scholarship is renewable for multiple years provided students maintain satisfactory academic progress, typically including a minimum GPA requirement and continuous full-time enrollment.

Competitive applicants often come from challenging academic environments, including AP, IB, dual enrollment, or honors programs. They may have earned awards for leadership, participated in student government, led community service projects, taken on mentorship roles, or demonstrated exceptional dedication to academic clubs, the arts, athletics, or civic engagement. DSU looks for students who represent integrity, ambition, and a willingness to grow into future leaders.
