The Elizabeth A. Allen Scholarship is a highly esteemed award that provides significant financial support to high-achieving students from New Jersey who have demonstrated excellence in academics and leadership throughout their high school careers. This scholarship is named in honor of Elizabeth A. Allen, a distinguished educator whose legacy continues to inspire the next generation of students pursuing higher education. The scholarship aims to assist students in their pursuit of postsecondary education by covering a portion of their tuition costs, with a strong emphasis on academic achievement, community involvement, and leadership potential.

Eligibility for the Elizabeth A. Allen Scholarship includes the following criteria:

  • High School Graduation: The applicant must be a high school senior scheduled to graduate from a New Jersey public high school, including vocational-technical and charter schools.
  • Academic Excellence: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher is required. Applicants should have completed a rigorous course of study, including advanced placement (AP) or honors courses, if available, to demonstrate their academic capability.
  • Community and Extracurricular Involvement: The scholarship seeks students who have actively participated in extracurricular activities, community service, or leadership roles within their school or community. Leadership experience is highly valued and will strengthen the application.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation, with one from a high school teacher. These letters should attest to the applicant’s academic performance, character, and contributions to their community or school.
  • Essay: Applicants must submit a well-crafted essay outlining their college and career goals. The essay should reflect the student’s ambitions, motivations, and how they plan to contribute to their field of study and community in the future.

Renewal of the scholarship for a second year is contingent upon the recipient maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 at the college or university level. The recipient is also expected to remain actively involved in extracurricular activities and demonstrate continued leadership and community service throughout their undergraduate studies.

Deadline: All application materials must be postmarked by the designated deadline. Late submissions will not be considered.
