Information and Eligibility:
The Farm Credit Foundation for Agricultural Advancement offers scholarships to high-school seniors and college students who plan careers in agriculture or agriculture-related fields. For West Virginia residents, eligible counties include Berkeley, Brooke, Hancock, Jefferson, Marshall, Morgan and Ohio counties.
Eligibility criteria include:

  • Residency/Region: Must reside in one of the eligible counties in West Virginia (Berkeley, Brooke, Hancock, Jefferson, Marshall, Morgan or Ohio).
  • Academic Level: High-school senior or currently enrolled full-time in a two- or four-year college or technical program.
  • Career Focus: Must plan a full-time career in agriculture or an agriculture-related field (which may include food science, veterinary science, agribusiness, agricultural education or other ag-industry roles).
  • Citizenship: U.S. citizen.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed online application (via the Foundation’s portal).
  • Transcript (official or unofficial) showing academic status.
  • Résumé or list of extracurricular/leadership activities, especially in agriculture or related fields.
  • Two letters of recommendation from teachers, employers, or mentors familiar with the applicant’s agricultural interests or leadership.

Selection Criteria:

  • Evidence of commitment to agriculture and readiness for a relevant career.
  • Academic performance and leadership potential.
  • Completeness and quality of the application materials.

Additional Details:

  • For the 2025-26 cycle: at least $350,000 in total scholarships awarded, with individual awards valued up to $10,000.
  • Award funds may be used for tuition, room and board, textbooks, summer/winter classes, and study abroad (for credit) but *not* for research-only or conference expenses.
  • Recipients may be eligible to receive the scholarship up to four times.
