Information and Eligibility:

The National Rainbow College Fund (NRCF) Scholarship is dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals pursuing higher education by providing financial assistance and fostering a sense of community. The scholarship is open to various categories of students, including high school seniors, incoming and current college or university students, community college students, and adult re-entry students. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Residency: Be a resident of California.
• Enrollment Status: Plan to enroll in at least 6 units at a Title IV-approved and accredited public or nonprofit community college, four-year university, or trade/vocational school in the United States.
• Financial Need: Demonstrate financial need by completing one of the following:
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • The California DREAM Act Application
  • The Federal Student Aid Estimator Tool
• LGBTQ+ Identification: Identify as LGBTQ+, whether publicly “out” or not. The application process respects and protects applicants’ privacy.

Deadline: Applications typically open in January and close in March. Check the NRCF website for exact dates each year.
