  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the Military and Rural Scholarship application online through the NBCC Foundation portal.
  • Submit official transcripts showing enrollment in a CACREP-accredited counseling program.
  • Provide a personal statement that outlines:
    • Your motivation for pursuing a career in counseling.
    • Your dedication to serving either military populations or rural communities.
    • Your long-term professional goals in providing mental health services.
  • Include two letters of recommendation:
    • One from a faculty member familiar with your academic and professional abilities.
    • One from a professional or community leader who can attest to your commitment to serving underserved populations.
  • Submit a résumé highlighting your academic achievements, work experience, and relevant volunteer activities.

Application Timeline:

  • Application Period: Typically opens in October and closes in December.
  • Award Notification: Recipients are notified several weeks after the application deadline.

Additional Information:

  • Recipients must commit to working with the identified population (military or rural) for a designated period after completing their degree.
