  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the Minority Fellowship Program application online through the NBCC Foundation portal.
  • Submit official transcripts showing current enrollment in a CACREP-accredited program.
  • Provide a personal statement that includes:
    • Your motivation for pursuing a career in counseling.
    • Your experiences as a minority individual and how they have shaped your goals in counseling.
    • Your long-term plans to serve minority and underserved communities in need of mental health care.
  • Include two letters of recommendation:
    • One from a faculty member familiar with your academic performance and dedication to the counseling profession.
    • One from a professional or community leader who can attest to your commitment to serving minority populations.
  • Submit a résumé highlighting academic achievements, community involvement, and professional experience relevant to counseling.
  • Complete an essay or questionnaire (if required) addressing specific topics related to mental health equity and access.

Application Timeline:

  • Application Period: Typically opens in February and closes in May.
  • Award Notification: Selected fellows are notified within a few weeks after the application deadline.
