Name: NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Collegiate Award – National Center for Women & Information Technology

Award Amount: $7,500 for each Award Winner; $2,500 for each Honorable Mention recipient

Information and Eligibility:
The AiC Collegiate Award recognizes the outstanding computing accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate students who are members of the AiC Community and have contributed substantially to a technical project showing innovation and impact.
Eligibility criteria include:

  • Academic Level: Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution (community college, college, university, or early college program) during the application year.
  • Field of Study: Major or minor in a computing or engineering discipline; related degree programs considered at the discretion of NCWIT.
  • Residency/Citizenship: Must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or meet the U.S. substantial presence test; must reside in the U.S. or a U.S. military base overseas.
  • Community Membership: Must be a member of the AiC Community prior to applying.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed online application via the AiC website including essays and questions about computing experience and project work.
  • Project description or summary of technical contributions, including team/project roles, innovation, and impact.
  • Letter of recommendation from a project advisor or faculty member (for Finalist round).

Selection Criteria:

  • Innovation, originality, and technical merit of the computing project.
  • Demonstrated leadership in computing or related fields and potential for continued contribution.
  • Quality of application materials, clarity of communication, and alignment with the aims of the AiC program.

Additional Details:

  • Winner and Honorable Mention recipients receive public recognition, computing resources and awards.
  • Past winners have come from diverse technical backgrounds and institutions across the U.S.
