New Hampshire Grocers Association / NHFIEF Scholarship

Name: New Hampshire Grocers Association / NHFIEF Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000 to $1,500

Information and Eligibility:
The New Hampshire Grocers Association / NHFIEF Scholarship supports students whose parents (or themselves as part-time employees) work for firms that are members of NHGA. The goal is to help employees and their families offset the cost of higher education, recognizing the contributions of retail grocery, convenience store, and supplier workers within the state. The scholarship is intended for students attending an accredited college, university, vocational or technical school anywhere in the United States. It helps reduce the financial burden of tuition, fees, and other education-related expenses.

This program is designed to benefit high school seniors and undergraduate students whose household has an active employment relationship with a dues-paying NHGA member firm. Whether through full-time employment of a parent/guardian or part-time employment by the student at a member store/firm, the scholarship aims to reward dedication and support access to higher education for grocery-industry families.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a dependent child of a full-time NHGA member-firm employee, OR be a part-time employee of an NHGA member firm while enrolled full time in school
  • If dependent: parent/guardian must have been employed at the member firm for at least one year by January 1 of the award year
  • If applicant-employed: applicant must have worked at the member firm for at least six months by January 1 of the award year
  • At time of award selection, the employment relationship with the NHGA member firm must still be active and based at a New Hampshire location
  • Applicant must be accepted to or currently enrolled at an accredited college, university, vocational, or technical school

Application Requirements:

  • Completed NHFIEF scholarship application form
  • Proof of enrollment or acceptance at an eligible post-secondary institution
  • Proof of employment — either parent or applicant — with an NHGA member firm (pay stub, employer verification, etc.)
  • Academic records: high school transcript if a senior, or college transcript if already enrolled
  • Any required standardized test scores (SAT, ACT) or extracurricular documentation as specified by application guidelines

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic merit (grades, transcripts, standardized test scores) or college GPA for current students
  • Demonstrated connection to the grocery-industry through employment or parental employment at an NHGA-member firm
  • Completeness and timeliness of application materials
  • Applicant eligibility verification and confirmation of employment status at time of award

Additional Details:

  • Award is one-time and non-renewable
  • Award amount typically ranges between $1,000 and $1,500 depending on funding and applicant pool
  • Funds may be applied toward tuition, fees, books, or other approved educational expenses in any accredited U.S. institution (college, university, vocational or technical school)
  • Application window typically opens every January and closes March 15

Deadline: March 15
