The NJREA Scholarship for Future Educators is designed to support students who are pursuing a career in education. This scholarship honors the vital role that educators play in shaping future generations. It is intended to assist high school seniors from New Jersey who are committed to becoming educators in the state’s public schools. The scholarship aims to encourage students to pursue teaching as a profession and to provide them with the financial resources necessary to complete their higher education.

Eligibility for the NJREA Scholarship for Future Educators includes the following criteria:

• Intended Major: Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree in education at an accredited college or university. This scholarship is for students who aspire to teach in K-12 schools in New Jersey, with an emphasis on those interested in teaching in high-need areas.
• Academic Excellence: A minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required. Applicants should have demonstrated strong academic performance throughout high school, particularly in subjects related to education, language arts, and social studies.
• Leadership and Extracurricular Involvement: While academic success is important, leadership experience and involvement in school activities, community service, or volunteer work in education-related areas are highly valued and will strengthen the application.
• Letters of Recommendation: Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, including one from a high school teacher or education professional who can attest to the applicant’s passion for teaching and suitability for a career in education.
• Essay: Applicants must submit an essay explaining why they want to become an educator, their career goals in the field of education, and how they plan to contribute to the educational community in New Jersey.

This scholarship is renewable for up to four years, provided the recipient continues to pursue a degree in education, maintains full-time enrollment, and demonstrates academic progress toward their teaching certification.
