North Dakota Farmers Union Foundation Scholarship

Name: North Dakota Farmers Union (NDFU) Scholarship

Award Amount: $500

Information and Eligibility:
The North Dakota Farmers Union (NDFU) Scholarship supports high school seniors and undergraduate students who are members of the Farmers Union family and are preparing to pursue a post-secondary education that will benefit rural America. While the recipient’s field of study need not be limited to agriculture, applicants are encouraged to select programs that will strengthen rural communities, farms, or affiliated industries. Eligibility criteria include:

  • Membership/Affiliation: Applicant (or their family) must be a member of the North Dakota Farmers Union or affiliated cooperative; membership dues (approximately $30/year) are required for eligibility.
  • Academic Level: High-school seniors planning to enroll in a two- or four-year college or university or undergraduate students continuing full-time study are eligible.
  • GPA Requirement: Applicants must maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.50 over the past three years of schooling (high-school or college) at the time of application.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed scholarship application form provided by the NDFU (or its youth/scholarship portal) and submitted by the stated deadline.
  • Official or unofficial transcript documenting academic performance and GPA.
  • Résumé or personal statement outlining educational goals, career aspirations in relation to rural or farming communities, and how the scholarship will support those goals.
  • Proof of Farmers Union membership (or parent/guardian membership) as required. Some applications may require letters of recommendation or additional supporting documents—applicants should consult the current year’s form.

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic readiness and conviction for post-secondary study, demonstrated by transcript and résumé.
  • Connection to the rural/agricultural community or demonstration of how the applicant intends to contribute to rural America and the agriculture-industry ecosystem.
  • Quality and completeness of the application materials—including clarity of personal goals, alignment with the scholarship purpose, and adherence to submission instructions.

Additional Details:

  • Award values and number of recipients may vary annually based on funding and applicant pool. For example, some sources list awards up to $500 for eligible students.
  • Awards are non-renewable unless otherwise stated; previous recipients may re-apply if eligible and within scholarship guidelines.
  • Funds are typically disbursed to the recipient’s institution or credited toward tuition and fees once enrollment is verified.

Deadline:

  • January
