The OHA Higher Education Scholarship Program assists Native Hawaiian students in pursuing post-secondary education. Scholarships are administered through the Hawai‘i Community Foundation and Liko A‘e Native Hawaiian Scholarship Program.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ancestry: Must be of Native Hawaiian ancestry and verified through the Hawaiian Registry Program.
  • Residency: Must be a resident of Hawai‘i or the continental United States.
  • Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Enrollment: Must be enrolled full-time or part-time at an accredited two-year or four-year college.
  • Academic Standing: Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates and 3.0 for graduate students.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the Hawaiian Registry Program verification.
  • Submit the scholarship application through the Hawai‘i Community Foundation or Liko A‘e Native Hawaiian Scholarship Program.

Application Timeline:

  • Hawai‘i Community Foundation: Open enrollment from December 1 to February 19.
  • Liko A‘e Native Hawaiian Scholarship Program: Open enrollment from March 4 to May 1.

Additional Information:

  • Applicants must renew their Hawaiian Registry verification every five years.
