Award Amount:

  • Up to five $10,000 scholarships awarded annually.

Overview:
The SPS – Google Scholarships aim to support undergraduate physics students who have demonstrated perseverance and commitment to their education. These scholarships are particularly intended for students who have overcome significant obstacles or challenges in their academic journeys. Recipients will also have the opportunity to connect with Google representatives through special events.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a member of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) national organization.
  • Must be an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in physics or a related field.
  • Exhibit perseverance in overcoming personal, academic, or financial challenges.
  • Engage actively in SPS activities and demonstrate a commitment to the physics community.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the online application through the SPS portal.
  • Submit a personal statement detailing:
    • The challenges or obstacles you have faced and how you overcame them.
    • Your academic achievements and career goals in physics.
    • Your involvement with SPS and contributions to the physics community.
  • Provide an official transcript showing completed and planned coursework in physics and related subjects.
  • Include two letters of recommendation:
    • One from an SPS advisor or faculty member familiar with your perseverance and contributions to SPS.
    • One from another faculty member or mentor who can attest to your achievements and dedication to the field.
  • Obtain certification from the Department Chair confirming your academic standing and progress toward a degree.

Application Timeline:

  • Application Opens: January 2.
  • Application Deadline: March 15.
  • Award Notification: Winners are announced by late spring.

  • Recipients will have access to unique networking opportunities with Google representatives.
