The SPS Leadership Scholarship recognizes undergraduate physics students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership within the Society of Physics Students (SPS) and their academic communities. This scholarship aims to support students who excel academically and take active roles in promoting physics and mentoring peers through SPS programs and activities.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a member of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) national organization.
• Must be a junior or senior at the time of application, enrolled full-time at an accredited institution.
• Exhibit significant leadership within SPS at the chapter, regional, or national level.
• Maintain strong academic performance in physics and related disciplines.

Application Requirements:

• Complete the SPS Leadership Scholarship application online through the SPS portal.
• Provide a personal statement detailing:
  • Your leadership roles and accomplishments within SPS.
  • Your contributions to advancing physics education and outreach.
  • Your academic goals and how SPS has influenced your career aspirations.
• Submit an official transcript that includes all completed and planned physics-related coursework.
• Two letters of recommendation:
  • One from an SPS advisor or faculty member familiar with your leadership activities.
  • One from another faculty member or mentor who can attest to your academic achievements and leadership potential.
• A certification form from the Department Chair verifying good academic standing and satisfactory progress toward your degree.

Application Timeline:

• Application Opens: January 2.
• Application Deadline: March 15.
• Award Notification: Winners are typically announced by late spring.
