Information And Eligibility: The Susan G. Komen for the Cure College Scholarship Program was established in 2001, to help students who have suffered the loss of a parent or guardian to breast cancer or have (themselves) received a breast cancer diagnosis at age 25 or younger. This college scholarship awards $10,000 per year, for up to four years to the recipient to help pay for costs associated with attending any accredited state university for the pursuit of a baccalaureate degree. Recipients for this scholarship are selected based on academic achievement, community service efforts, and financial need. To apply for this opportunity, applicants must meet all of the following criteria: have lost a parent/guardian to breast cancer or are a breast cancer survivor diagnosed at 25 years or younger, are a high school senior, college freshman, college sophomore or junior, have plans to attend or are currently enrolled in a state-supported college or university, have a high school and/or college GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale, are 25 years old or younger, are a U.S. citizen, or documented permanent resident of the U.S., have never been subject to any disciplinary action by any institution (including, but not limited to, any educational or law enforcement agency), and are willing to advocate for breast cancer education and research by completing a minimum of 20 hours of community service per semester.
