The Jerry Clark Memorial Scholarships offer a $5,000 award annually to two students who are majoring in social science fields. This scholarship aims to support students pursuing degrees in areas such as political science, sociology, ethnic studies, communications, and other related fields. To be eligible, applicants must be in their sophomore year of study and enrolled as full-time students in a four-year degree program at any accredited college or university.

Applicants must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or above. Additionally, the student’s parent, legal guardian, or financially responsible grandparent must be a member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This scholarship is designed to assist students who are committed to social science disciplines and who are part of a family with AFSCME membership.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a sophomore enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year degree program at an accredited college or university.
  • Must be majoring in a social science field (e.g., political science, sociology, ethnic studies, communications, etc.).
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Applicant’s parent, legal guardian, or financially responsible grandparent must be a member of AFSCME.

Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit a completed application form along with their academic transcripts. They must also demonstrate their commitment to their social science major and provide proof of their AFSCME affiliation (from the student’s parent, legal guardian, or grandparent). A personal statement and letters of recommendation may also be required as part of the application process.
