Information and Eligibility:
The Nightwing Scholarship, in collaboration with Nightwing and The AFCEA Educational Foundation, seeks to support a student dedicated to advancing national security in the cyber intelligence community. This scholarship is intended for students pursuing degrees in Cyber Intelligence and will be applied to the student’s ongoing higher-level academic education. This scholarship is available to both undergraduate and graduate students attending accredited community colleges or four-year universities.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Enrollment Status: Must be enrolled in an accredited community college or four-year college/university. Undergraduate students must be in their sophomore, junior, or senior year, or pursuing a Master’s degree.
  • Academic Achievement: Must be a well-rounded student with an aptitude for STEM subjects and a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0, maintaining good academic standing.
  • Field of Study: Must be majoring in a Cyber Intelligence degree program. Qualifying STEM majors related to the mission of AFCEA and Nightwing include:
    • Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Cyber Security Engineering
    • MS in Information Security and Assurance
    • MS in Applied Information Technology/Cyber Security
    • Cyber Intelligence and Security
    • Cybersecurity Risk Management
    • Intelligence Analysis
    • Artificial Intelligence

Application Process

Submissions must include the following documents:

  • Completed Application: In addition to basic information, applicants must answer several short-answer questions. Applications open on October 1st.
  • Official Transcript: Submit an official transcript showing completed courses and grades, including grades from the Spring semester. Transcripts should be sent electronically through your school. If electronic submission is not possible, official documents can be mailed to the AFCEA address below, to arrive by the deadline.
  • Letter of Recommendation: One letter of recommendation must be submitted from a professor at the applicant’s current institution.
  • Essay: A brief essay (250 words or less) describing the applicant’s financial need.
