The Joe Francis Haircare Scholarship honors the legacy of Joe Francis (1933-1994), founder of The Barbers Corporation. Established in 1994 by his wife, Flo Francis, and industry colleagues, the foundation aims to assist deserving students in pursuing careers in cosmetology and barbering. Joe Francis’s journey from humble beginnings to international success exemplifies dedication and resilience, values the foundation seeks to promote.

Eligibility criteria include:

• Enrollment Status: Applicants must be applying for entrance into or actively enrolled in a cosmetology or barber program at an accredited institution. Note: Esthetician or nail training programs are not eligible.
• Graduation Timing: Applicants graduating from their program between January 1st and August 31st of the award year are ineligible. Scholarships are intended for students who will graduate after August 31st.
• Application Period: Applications are accepted annually from January 1st through June 1st. The completed application must be submitted by June 1st to be considered for that award year.
• Financial Need: Applicants should demonstrate financial need, detailing income, expenses, and any other financial support in the application.
• Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation are required, preferably from employers, instructors, or counselors familiar with the applicant’s character and suitability for a career in cosmetology or barbering.
• Essay Submission: A personal essay addressing specific questions about the applicant’s background, motivations, financial need, and career aspirations in the cosmetology industry is required. Detailed prompts are provided in the application form.

Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by June 1st each year. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
