Information And Eligibility: Applicants for this college scholarship opportunity must be a recently graduated high school senior who will enroll as a freshman at a four-year or two-year college or university OR a student currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited four-year or two-year college or university. All students applying for this scholarship must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States. Applicants will be asked to compose a 1000 to 1600 word essay on one of the following topics: 1. If you could have a direct connection with anyone living today, who would it be, and how would you use this connection to make the world around you better? 2. Which relationship in your life do you value most, and in what ways has it impacted your life? 3. What does open access to data mean to you, and what opportunities does open access to data hold for the future? All essays will be judged on the following criteria: style, content, creativity, and how persuasively the applicant presents his or her point of view. The applicant whose essay scores best on the above criteria will receive a college scholarship of $1000 to be applied to the following school-related expenses: tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board.
