Information And Eligibility: The National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship Program offers competitive scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related research. The National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship can award up to $20,000 per academic year in tuition, educational expenses, and living expenses to scholarship recipients. These scholarships are offered for a full academic year; however, they can be renewed for up to four years.

To be eligible for the National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship, students must be pursuing a career in biomedical, behavioral, or social science health-related research. Scholarship applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national, or qualified noncitizen, and must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited, four-year undergraduate institution. Scholarship applicants will be required to have their financial aid office provide certification that they have an “exceptional financial need.” All applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) or be within the top five percent of their class.
