Information And Eligibility:
The Highline Future Teachers Kelly Linderman Scholarship was established to create opportunities for outstanding graduates of Highline Academy who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or education broadly. The scholarship honors Kelly Linderman, whose passion for education impacted many students. Eligible applicants must have graduated from Highline Academy Charter School, earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA in high school, have an interest in pursuing a career in teaching and/or education broadly (including but not limited to education administration or social work within a school setting), and plan to enroll at an accredited, not-for-profit, 2- or 4-year college or university in the United States.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduated from Highline Academy Charter School.
  • Earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA in high school.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in teaching and/or education broadly, including but not limited to education administration or social work within a school setting.
  • Planning to enroll at an accredited, not-for-profit, 2- or 4-year college or university in the United States.

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic achievement.
  • Embodiment of Highline Academy’s core values (Responsibility, Empowerment, Aspiration, Citizenship, and Honesty) in personal and academic life.
  • Professional interest.
  • Character reference.

Additional considerations may be given to applicants pursuing a career in teaching. Demonstration of financial need will be considered in applicant evaluation.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the Universal Application through the scholarship lifecycle manager.
  • Provide a list of all extracurricular activities and community volunteering opportunities.
  • Submit a transcript.
  • Write two essays:
    • Describe how you embody the core values of Highline Academy (Responsibility, Empowerment, Aspiration, Citizenship, and Honesty) in your personal and academic life. For more information on Highline Academy’s core values, click here.
    • Highline Academy and Kelly Linderman shared a vision to create inclusive excellence in public education. Please share your vision for your career and detail what inspires it.
  • Provide one community reference.

Additional Information:

  • Awards can be used for tuition and fees.
  • All scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient’s school and can be used for the upcoming academic year or deferred for up to one year.
  • Award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship policies of the recipient’s college or university.
